We've compiled a list of frequently asked questions to provide you with quick and informative answers.

Can the Forensic Dashboard connect to any LIMS system?

Yes, the Forensic Dashboard can connect to any LIMS system (on your terms) if you have access to your database and your own data. We can also work with your LIMS provider to connect the Dashboard with you LIMS.

Can we connect to a database so that we have all our data in one place?

Yes, you can. We have connected to several databases outside of LIMS and you can have all the data available in the Dashboard.

We have connected to StacsDNA, Horizon Chemware and multiple client custom made databases based on: Access Database, Excel, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, etc. If you have access to your database and the data, we can connect to it.

What is the difference between Forensic Dashboard and software like Tableau or PowerBI?

• Dashboard pre-built searches and reports are designed specifically for Crime Labs. It will take any lab a year or more to build the basics of our existing reports
• We have the Foresight report built-in
• It comes with expert data analysis service by people who know forensics for a fraction of a price of hiring a full-time personnel with data science experience
• We can build the most complex custom searches and reports for you in a fraction of the time
• The system already has a data-warehouse which is a must for any effective reporting system

What if our LIMS provider is not that easy to work with?

• If you have direct access to your own database and/or create or edit own Crystal Reports, we can work with you and not even involve the vendor.
• We have worked with JusticeTrax and have not had any issues working with Porter Lee and other vendors once the client tells the vendor they must work with us.
• Remember, this is your data. Any vendor including 2nd Logic has no right to restrict your access to your own data.

We have x number of reports that we need during a time period, do you provide it or do we have to create it from scratch?

Right out of the box, you get multiple reports that is very customizable, and easy to work with, a very different approach from Crystal Reports. We also offer support which is included in our pricing which can used for creating custom reports that you need.

We have a lot of sensitive info in our database, how safe is your dashboard?

• You have the option of hosting the entire Dashboard system including the database internally or use your own cloud and we will not have any access whatsoever to the system or data. We will provide support through web meetings with you and your IT team.
• The system and our code goes through regular vulnerability checks and malware scans, and we will gladly send you the latest vulnerability reports.
• The back-end database is Microsoft SQL Server or PostgreSQL. Both are well known vendors with proven track record and most likely most of your systems already use one or both.
• Other than a standard system username/password login, everything else works with your standard network protocols and security. You are free to apply all your regular network security protocols to this system such as internal IP address, locking the server from outside access, SSL, proxy servers, firewall, etc.
• Our system has been running for years on multiple CJIS compliant networks
• Our own cloud offering is through Microsoft Azure and/or AWS GovCloud. Both of which are CJIS compliant.
• Dashboard only needs read-only access to your LIMS system. The data pulls are one way only.

We have been running on multiple client sites since 2015 with zero data breaches to date.

How much does the Dashboard cost and what is included in it?

Our annual maintenance fee is $9,900, which includes basic support, training, security patches, and any update to the LabRat for Foresight 20/20. Apart from that, we charge a first-year fee of $20,000 which includes integration and connecting into your LIMS, troubleshooting, setting up of any reports that you need, connecting to any additional databases to you need, support and training of up to 150 hours.

Beyond this we have additional customization packages which are optional and can be availed based on your requirements. We would be more than happy to discuss this with you.
